I had to reinstall everything after a botched up migration. No harm, second reinstall will be easier as I have a better idea of contents and a copy of the development website for referral. In other stories, checkout guaranteed fast loan, go to this this contact form.

I've installed the SEO pack and populated some of the pages with SEO titles, descriptions and keywords.
This new site will be a great asset to the community and will be more visible to anyone looking for a democratic community in a virtual world to join.
Thanks for your cooperation Rosie!
I've added Google XML Sitemaps, which should help Search engines to index this blog faster and better π To make it work best, it needs a special registration with Google Webmaster Tools, which required adding a meta tag to the template.
Also, I hate the "default" permalinks which are so ugly and 1990-ish; I changed them to the more conventional style, with date and post title. This also helps a bit with indexing.
You also need to place a favicon.ico somewhere on the main directory π I have one on the forums: https://forums.slcds.info/favicon.ico (and https://forums.slcds.info/favicon.gif) — just copy them and upload then. It makes the site look cooler π and is actually used by some services to display a nice icon next to a link to our site. It's a minor thingy but definitely looks nicer.
Finally, I think we should discuss two other things:
1) Installing a different comment management system, thus allowing people to make comments without registration, without filling in fields, using threaded comments, easy comment moderation, and so forth. I'm familiar with IntenseDebate (from the same company that makes WordPress π ) and Disqus (which is used a lot outside WordPress as well) and I think it's a matter of taste which is better (they have similar features). Both integrate very well with WordPress and will use most of the CSS from your template. I definitely recommend picking one of them.
If we decide to keep the "standard" comment management system, at the very least Akismet and WP Hashcash have to be activated, or else we'll have the site full of comment spam π
2) Adding a cache. Your webserver is tremendously fast (I've tested it via some Google tools), but it can always be accelerated even more — while taking up far less resources on your server and limiting the number of database calls. I've used WP Super Cache a lot in the past (a few of my sites still use that; it's relatively simple to configure) but now I'm using W3 Total Cache — it's way harder to configure, but it has a lot of cool features, one of which is integrating directly with CloudFlare. If we opt for it, I'll give you the access data to integrate W3TC with CloudFlare π
Having a cache is not strictly necessary (the site doesn't have that much traffic), and CloudFlare will cache about half the traffic anyway, but it should be far more friendlier on your server.
Oh, and I see that you've been using Artisteer to create this template π I actually like that tool a lot, although it creates templates that look a bit too "bloggy" for my tastes. But I'm not complaining at all! I think it works well π Perhaps there could be some colour matching though (i.e. using the "CDS blue" from the flag), but of course that's up to you.
Thanks Gwyn for:
1. XML maps
2. permalinks (something i need to study cause i hadn't a clue π )
Checklist done:
1. favicon
2. Register site with Google done but some problem with verification – takes time? because i don't own the domain name? Please check https://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?ans…
Agreed with:
1. Installing IntenseDebate
2. W3 Total Cache
Will you install it? Or let me know how i should do it?
Artisteer and the blue of the flag …
I would prefer to leave as it is. The blue of the flag with all due respect is very hard to combine with other colours; for th efirst design I used that exact blue and it was too harsh, i found anyway.
So I thought that by choosing a different tone of the flag blue, a more grey blue, a more muted blue the overall effect would be softer.
Anyway that was the thinking behind it.
Thanks again, Gwyn for your cooperation, I will answer your email tomorrow.
I love this project and I also read the website proposal I found on the Tiki website and found it inspiring. https://aliasi.us/nburgwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Pr…
Seems that this project has had a long gestation!!
I've installed the W3 Cache plugin and done some of the configuration, but I've left it inactive until after the pages have all had their text added etc. (You don't want to be fighting with cache while building the site.) Also, I am not sure on some of the settings and it requires the IP address.
Agree with Gwyneth on the default permalinks, so that's great!
Registering with Google takes usually about 24 hours for it to work I believe.
Thanks Rosie for installing the W3 Total Cache, I will turn it on as soon as all pages are in place. This will take another while. The active law is now in place. I will be working on the 'Themes' pages with Arria this weekend. Just thinking that it might be historically interesting to have some documentation on the building of the new church. Have you got anything? Maybe a before and after? Come to think of it, I have no photos of the original Kirche.
Anyway, thank you for your help in building up the portal.
Oh yes forgot to mention, the Google XML maps works now!
This may be a silly question, but I hope it is of public interest at least:
Is registration disabled at both portal and forums sites? I can not find a sign up button anywhere. To make sure it is not local, I asked Lilith Ivory, but she does not find it either. Possibly we both have alzheimer without knowing yet?
Hi Tanoujin; the sign-up for the forums is disabled because there was so much spam, but you can contact Delia Lake and ask to be added. (At least for now until the forum has been migrated to the new one, and then I'm not sure who will be taking care of it.) As for the actual CDS website (here!), it is still being worked on, but as you have already done, you can make a comment.
I see, thanks a lot. Good job so far! Have a nice day.
